“Yogini of Hirapur Oracle è un progetto di carte oracolari che prende ispirazione dal famoso tempio delle 64 Yogini di Hirapur (Orissa, India), che ho visitato numerose volte.

Il progetto nasce da un intenso percorso negli studi sul sacro femminile e la danza e da una lunga ricerca sul campo (ho vissuto per lunghi periodi tra New Delhi e lo stato dell’Orissa) sulle 64 Yogini del tempio di Hirapur cui ho dedicato il libro La danza segreta delle Yogini. Il tempio di Hirapur (Venexia, Roma 2014).

Le immagini delle Yogini nei miei disegni sono riproduzioni delle sculture originali del tempio. Poiché tutte le sculture sono state gravemente danneggiate – a tutte mancano le mani, ad alcune mancano anche le gambe o il volto – dopo mesi intensi di osservazione e studio le ho ricostruite insieme agli oggetti di 4 potere che avrebbero retto nelle mani.”

Yogini of Hirapur Oracle is a deck of 66 round oracle cards: 64 Yogini, 1 Shiva Bhairava and 1 Katyayani. 

It is included a booklet – English/Italian – with the meaning of the Oracle.

” The Yogini of Hirapur Oracle is a set of round oracle cards inspired by the famous 64 Yoginis temple at Hirapur (Orissa, India) which I have been visiting repeatedly throughout the years.

This project is an offspring of my journey into studies of the sacred feminine and the dance, which went along with long and intense fieldwork (I spent long periods in New Delhi and Orissa) at the Hirapur 64 Yogini temple, subject of my book  La danza segreta delle Yogini. Il tempio di Hirapur (Venexia, Roma 2014).

My drawings of Yogini images reproduce the original sculptures of the temple. Since most of the figures are severely damaged – some of them have no hands, others have neither legs nor faces – I ‘restored’ them along with the power objects that they hold in their hands after spending months observing and studying each single sculpture.

For the book design of the cards, I chose an Orissa tribal art drawing – Chita – devoted to Lakshmi, goddess of good fortune and auspiciousness.

The round design which I chose for the Yogini cards was inspired by the round playing cards used in Orissa, the Ganjifa.

I sought to allow the Oracle to speak in two different manners:

1. Yogini Ritual Dance
I teach my own personal way to express the oracle through dance during my workshops.

2. Reading Oracle

I suggest three simple ways to read the Yogini of Hirapur Oracle.

Sit in front of the deck and shuffle the cards.

If you are looking for an answer to a specific question, turn over one card only.

Five cards creat a Rose of 5 card :  One card at the centre and four cards around it.
The first card pulled out from the deck by the consultant is placed on a surface. We shall refer to this card as card number 0. Hence we place the second card pulled out, which we shall call card number 1, below card number 0; we then place the third card pulled out, called card number 2, above card number 0, the fourth card, called number 3, at the left side of card number 0, and the fifth card, called number 4, to the right of card number 0.
The card at the centre indicates the consultant, and the other cards around it refer to patterns in her or his life. Card number 1, placed beneath card number 0, refers to the body.  Card number 2, placed above card number 0, indicates the mind or personality.  Card number 3, placed to the left of card number 0, refers to the past and card number 4, placed right of card number 0, refers to the future.
This reading provides an overall view of current situations and the near future.

The reading of a Rose of 9 cards allows for a more detailed vision.
The first passage is the same as the procedure described above for the Rose with 5 cards. Then, the consultant pulls out 4 more cards. Card number 5 is placed between the first and third, card number 6 between the third and the second, card number 7 between the second and the fourth card, and number 8 between the fourth and the first. This layout forms a Rose composed of four principle directions and four intermediate directions.

• First read the central card indicating the consultant.
• Then consult the four main directions: 1^st body, 2^nd personality, 3^rd past and 4^th future.
• The oracle is completed by consulting the intermediate directions:

Card 5 indicates something to be abandoned
Card 6 indicates something to be considered
Card 7 indicates something to be accepted
Card 8 indicates some further aspect that should be considered in order to reinforce the reading of the fourth card

Ho inteso due modi per far parlare l’oracolo:

1. Yogini Danza Rituale©

Durante i seminari trasmetto un metodo personale per esprimere l’oracolo attraverso la danza.

2. Lettura dell’Oracolo

Ho strutturato 3 metodi semplici di leggere le Yogini of Hirapur Oracle.

Sedetevi di fronte al mazzo di carte e mischiatele:

1

Prendete solo una carta se volete un oracolo su una domanda specifica.

2

Cinque carte formano un mandala: 1 carta al centro e 4 intorno.

Si estrae una carta considerata la n. 0. Si estrae la seconda carta n.1, e la si posiziona alla base della carta n.0; si estrae la terza carta n. 2 e la si posiziona sopra la carta n. 0; si estrae la carta n.3 e la si posiziona alla sinistra della carta n. 0; si estrae carta n. 4 e la si posiziona alla destra della carta n. 0.

Questa lettura dà una descrizione generale della situazione del momento e cosa avverrà in un futuro prossimo.

La carta centrale rappresenta il/la consultante intorno al /alla quale si svolge la storia. La prima carta, posta alla base della carta centrale racconta del corpo. La seconda posta sopra la carta del/della consultante racconta della personalità. La terza a sinistra della carta del/della consultante dice il passato e la quarta carta a destra del futuro.

Lettura della Rosa con 9 carte

Il primo passaggio è lo stesso della Rosa con 5 carte posizionate nello stesso modo. Quindi, prendete altre 4 carte. La carta n. 5 va tra la prima e la terza, la carta n. 6 va tra la terza e la seconda, la carta n. 7 va tra la seconda e la quarta e la carta n. 8 va tra la quarta e la prima. Viene a formarsi così una Rosa con quattro direzioni principali e quattro secondarie.

• Leggete prima la carta n. 0 che parla del consultante.
• Leggete poi le quattro carte nelle direzioni principali: la n.1 parla del corpo, la n.2 della personalità, la n.3 del passato e la n.4 del futuro.
• Poi leggete le carte nelle direzioni intermedie:

La n.5 dice cosa dovete lasciare

La n.6 cosa dovete considerare

La n.7 cosa dovete prendere

La n.8 cosa dovete includere; inoltre, rinforza il significato della quarta carta sul futuro

• E’ importante sottolineare che le carte oracolari Yogini of Hirapur Oracle sono un progetto artistico canalizzato in forma di oracolo e non vuole intendersi come ricostruzione filologica.
